title: Saga Volumes 5-9

author: Brian K. Vaughan

my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
genre(s): Comics, Fantasy, Science Fiction

my thoughts: wowowow. After reading Vol. 4 I put a request in at my library for the rest of the trades because I needed to know what happens next. Since Volume 9 came out recently there was a loooong wait so I just went and bought it. Oh man that ending! I’m sad that it’s currently on hiatus for at least a year but I can understand why they have decided on that. I will wait as long as I have to for this amazing story.

Finish date: 11/09, 11/10, 11/11, 11/12, 11/18

title: Saga Vol. 3

author: Brian K. Vaughan

my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
genre(s): Comics, Fantasy, Science Fiction

my thoughts: I really enjoyed this. I know I said this exact same thing about volume 1 but it still stands. I love the characters and the world that’s been built. I get the majority of my books from my library’s ebook catalogue but I hope to have enough money to purchase this comic series one day.

Finish date: 10/13/18

title: Saga Vol. 2

author: Brian K. Vaughan

my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
genre(s): Comics, Fantasy, Science Fiction

my thoughts: I loved this! The backstory of Marco & Alana and the tidbits about their childhood and home life peaked my interest. I also really like that this story is being told by a future Hazel. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of these comics.

title: Jurassic Park (Jurassic Park #1)

author: Michael Crichton

my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
genre(s): Science Fiction, Fiction, Thriller, Adventure

my thoughts: under the cut, no spoilers.

This was such a fun read and imo far better than the movie. Okay don’t get me wrong I still love the movie and I always try my hardest not to compare books and movies but I love that this book gave me so much more about the concept and the characters. It grabbed right in the first paragraph and I didn’t want to stop reading. I needed to find out how it ended and I’m really looking forward to the sequel. Some of the science and math went over my head (two of my worst subjects in school) but it didn’t stop me from enjoying the book.

20. A book by a local author – The Search for WondLa by Tony DiTerlizzi

Finished 09/18/18

I had a hard time with this prompt so I expanded my area to the state in general. According to his bio, Tony DiTerlizzi resides in LA. I figured eh same state at least sounds good. Also I’m a big fan of The Spiderwick Chronicles. The illustrations are wonderful and enhanced the story. It helped paint the world DiTerlizzi created. The story itself dragged or felt stagnant in some places. I’m interested to find out what happened to the earth in the rest of this trilogy.

title: Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1)

author: Marissa Meyer

my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
genre(s): YA, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Dystopia

my thoughts: I absolutely loved this retelling of Cinderella. I’m weary of retellings because sometimes they can get repetitive but this was it’s own thing with some hints of Cinderella. I did figure out the big reveal 1/3rd of the way into the book but it was still pretty cool to see that I was right (for once lol). I’m excited to continue with the rest of the series and find out what happens next.

Finish date: 09/05/18

title: Saga Vol. 1

author: Brian K. Vaughan

my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
genre(s): Comics, Fantasy, Science Fiction

my thoughts: I really enjoyed this comic. I loved the universe that was built and the characters. It is gory and graphic so keep that in mind if it’s not your thing. I’m looking forward to continuing on with this comic.

Finish date: 08/24/18

title: Ink and Bone (The Great Library #1)

author: Rachel Caine

my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
genre(s): YA, Fantasy, Science Fiction -> Dystopia, Historical Fiction

my thoughts: under the cut for possible spoilers.

I love books and I especially love books about books! I really loved reading this and the only thing that knocked it from a 5 to a 4 was the few beginning chapters to get the book going were a tad slow and I really had to push through but it was totally worth it. Such a great read and I’m excited to continue with the series. This book really packs the punches too, you start getting attached to these characters and hoping for the best and then bam! Deaths. Oh man was there death. The book ends in a cliffhanger and from what I saw so do the others in the series, so be aware of that.

Finish date: 08/14/18

title: Warm-Up (The Villains #0.5)

author: V.E. Schwab

my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
genre(s): Short Stories, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Adult

my thoughts: This was written before Vicious was released and is a prelude to that story. It’s not bad but I read it after Vicious and this is just a short intro to that world, it is very much a warm-up to that book. It was cool to see the connection between Warm-Up and Vicious.
